  • Job Title: Project Engineer Electrical
  • Emphasis: Architectural Engineering
  • Concentration: Business Minor

For my job I design the electrical distribution systems in buildings. I have worked on office buildings, stadiums, surgery centers, coroner offices, airports, and more! I always get so excited and feel so proud when I see a building getting built that I had a hand in designing.

  • Job Title: Product Manager
  • Emphasis: Mechanical Engineering
  • Concentration: Entrepreneurship

I solve tough, thorny problems that have no playbook. I work with leaders at large companies to figure out what they want to bet on and then quickly build them products and strategy to tell them if their bet is or is not a good one. If it is, I help get funding to continue expanding.. To do this, I frequently collaborate with designers, researchers, strategists, operators and developers.

  • Job Title: Sustainability Consultant
  • Emphasis: Environmental Engineering
  • Concentration: Environmental Policy

I am on the green building certifications team. I help guide architects, engineers, and contractors meet their sustainability goals. My main focus is on the WELL Building standard, which is geared toward occupant health and wellness. I am on the consulting side and also do performance testing of the building’s air, water, light, sound, thermal comfort, etc. I love traveling across the country to evaluate these state of the art buildings!

  • Title: Structural Professional Engineer
  • Emphasis: Civil Engineering
  • Concentration: CU Teach Math

I am currently working as a structural engineer for Martin/Martin Consulting Engineers. I design mostly health care buildings. At Martin/Martin, I am involved in our JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) committee. I am also a volunteer for the ACE Mentor Program. I love teaching K-12 students about engineering.

  • Title: Engineering CAD Analyst
  • Emphasis: Mechanical Engineering
  • Concentration: Neuroscience

After graduation I joined the team at SRAM, a company that designs and manufactures cycling components. As a CAD Analyst I work with our engineering teams to use CAD tools to create innovative processes and increase overall productivity, such as creating a "skeleton model" of a drivetrain to run analyses and test dimensions before any actual design work is done.

Just before I began working here I bought my first mountain bike and have since taken a deep dive into the sport and biking culture, both in and out of work. I feel so lucky to work in a field that I'm extremely passionate about, and be at a company that values balancing work and play, which often comes in the form of a lunchtime ride through a local trail system. Just as much as a loved my time in E+ (now IDE), I'm loving my time in the corporate world, although I don't think corporate is a word I'd ever use to classify the culture here at SRAM.

  • Title: R&D Engineer
  • Emphasis: Mechanical Engineering
  • Concentration: Premed

I currently work at Medtronic as an R&D Engineer in the Structural Heart & Aortic, within Mitral & Tricuspid therapies that help solve valve regurgitation. I specifically work on preclinical and clinical studies with a device that will go to commercialization.

  • Title: Systems Test Engineer, Space Vehicle Systems
  • Emphasis: Aerospace Engineering
  • Concentration: Applied Mathematics

As a student, I was involved in various programs through the Colorado Space Grant Consortium including designing, integrating, testing and launching a payload on the High Altitude Student Payload (HASP) Program, a sub-orbital rocket through the RockSat X Program, and finally a 3U CubeSat, PolarCube. As part of the PolarCube Program, I was fortunate enough to test the satellite's deployment mechanism and ADCS Algorithm in Micro Gravity by going on the "Vomit Comet" through the Reduced Gravity Office (RGO) at NASA's Johnson Space Center.

Once a Buff, forever a Buff!

The Integrated Design Engineering/ Engineering Plus program is pleased to remain in contact with many of our alumni. Wherever you are geographically and whatever stage in your career, we hope you will continue to stay engaged with CU Boulder and take advantage of the many opportunities and services available to you!

The Integrated Design Engineering (IDE) Professional Advisory Board was formed to bring together industry leaders , alumni, and friends in support of our activities to produce alumni ready for work in professional careers. Members of the board are chosen for their leadership in providing wisdom, compassion, commitment, and a willingness to advocate for IDE as well as help establish connections with industry, alumni, and professional leaders who are able to advance the strategic mission of the program.

Professional networking for faculty, students, alumni, and friends of the Integrated Design Engineering (formerly Engineering Plus) program at the °µÍø½ûÇø (CU).

You are welcome to join and post as an alumni!
