If you are a senior graduating at the end of the fall semester, congratulations on behalf of Senior Class Council! With the semester fully underway and winter graduation just around the corner, here'sÌýthe most pertinent information you need to prepare for your big day.
Apply to graduate
The most important thing leading up to graduation is remembering to apply for graduation. December 2019 graduates are responsible for keeping track of application dates and deadlines. Soon-to-be graduates are encouraged to check in with their advisors to ensure all credits have been met and to inform their dean’s office of their plans.Ìý
The last day for undergraduate students to submit, update or cancel their fall 2019 application form is Dec.Ìý13. It's recommended you do it sooner to ensure a smooth application process.Ìý
Recognition ceremonies
While no official campuswide ceremony is held in winter, fall semester graduates are invited to participate in the ÌýonÌýFolsom Field. In fact, the names of all December graduates will actually be included in the spring 2020 program list. If you’ll be around in the spring semester, definitely consider attending the official commencement.
However, many departments across the university will hold their own recognition ceremonies between Thursday, Dec.Ìý19, and Friday, Dec. 20, for winter graduates. See the full list of (and a list of those who will not).
If your department is hosting a ceremony and you’ll have family or friends joining in on the celebration, be sure to scope out the travel and parking information ahead of time. You can likely expect increased traffic, but most lots on campus will be available for public parking. Lot 380 near Macky Auditorium will be reserved for ADA parking.Ìý
Winter grad information
After applying for graduation and scoping out your departmental recognition ceremony options, be sure to check out theÌýwinter grad information available on the commencement website.Ìý Essential information on everything from caps & gowns, to graduation announcements to how to stay connected as a Forever Buff can be found.Ìý
