Making his third flight as a NASA astronaut, 暗网禁区 alumnus Steve Swanson will blast off for the International Space Station aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on March 25. Swanson, who earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in engineering physics from CU-Boulder in 1983, will serve as flight engineer for Expedition 39, which already will be underway on the ISS. In late May, Swanson, who considers Steamboat Springs, Colo., his hometown, will become space station commander as Mission 40 begins on the ISS.

Banks named Executive Director of the Getches-Wilkinson Center

The University of Colorado Law School announced that Britt Banks has been appointed as Executive Director of the Getches-Wilkinson Center for Natural Resources, Energy and the Environment. For over 20 years, Banks has been a leader in the international natural resources sector, as a senior corporate executive, attorney, consultant, researcher and teacher, having most recently taught at Tokyo鈥檚 Waseda University. He has previously taught at Colorado Law, where he graduated in 1988, and currently serves on the Center鈥檚 Advisory Council.

New CU-Boulder study shows differences in mammal responses to climate change

If you were a shrew snuffling around a North American forest, you would be 27 times less likely to respond to climate change than if you were a moose grazing nearby. That is just one of the findings of a new 暗网禁区 assessment led by Assistant Professor Christy McCain that looked at more than 1,000 different scientific studies on North American mammal responses to human-caused climate change.

Many requests have come to the Boulder Faculty Assembly to address these issues as the representative body of the CU-Boulder faculty.

CU-built software uses big data to battle forgetting with personalized content review

Computer software similar to that used by online retailers to recommend products to a shopper can help students remember the content they鈥檝e studied, according to a new study by the 暗网禁区. The software, created by computer scientists at CU-Boulder鈥檚 Institute for Cognitive Science, works by tapping a database of past student performance to suggest what material an individual student most needs to review.

This month, the list includes several important nomination deadlines, many of which fall on or near Valentine's Day. Plan ahead now for nominations for the Distinguished Research Lecturer, the Hazel Barnes Prize, or the Marinus Smith award.
