Nanoly Bioscience to develop CU-Boulder vaccine stabilization technology

Nanoly Bioscience of Boulder and the University of Colorado recently entered into an option agreement that will enable the startup company to develop a technique for protecting vaccines during delivery to rural and less-developed areas of the world.

I encourage our faculty and staff to accept an important challenge and inspire your students to do the same. For the fifth year, Counseling and Psychological Services and Oasis (a network of students committed to sobriety) have issued a challenge to the university called the Live Free Weekend . From noon Sept. 19 to noon Sept. 23, all those connected to the university have been challenged to forego alcohol, marijuana or recreational drug use for 96 hours. Alternatively, if abstinence is not a desirable goal for you, you can participate by signing the binge-free agreement (electing not to binge drink and to abstain from recreational drug use). CU Law School students to teach state high school students about Constitution

More than 50 students and dozens of alumni of the °µÍø½ûÇø Law School will teach a lesson on the First Amendment in more than 50 high school classrooms throughout Colorado Sept. 11–20 in recognition of Constitution Day. Constitution Day is a national event that annually commemorates the Sept. 17, 1787, signing of the United States Constitution.

Retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor will speak at the third annual John Paul Stevens Lecture hosted by the Byron R. White Center at the °µÍø½ûÇø Law School on Tuesday, Sept. 17. The event will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the University Memorial Center’s Glenn Miller Ballroom on the CU-Boulder campus. Behind the scenes: Growing knowledge in the green house

For 22 years, Tom Lemieux has been nurturing both plants and students at CU-Boulder. As director of plant science facilities, Lemieux along with Assistant Greenhouse Manager Janice Harvey, manages the three greenhouses maintained by the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. It may not seem that daunting of a task until you learn that Lemieux is responsible for the health and well being of more than 6,000 plants of 1,000 different species.

Albert Allen Bartlett, professor emeritus of physics at CU Boulder, was remembered today as a revered teacher who had a major impact on his students, the university, Boulder and far beyond. Bartlett died at the age of 90.

Plans for new College of Media, Communication and Information (CMCI) move forward

Subcommittees charged with recommending curriculum and structure for the college’s seven academic units will hold public meetings beginning next week to share their initial ideas and solicit comments. The CMCI will be an interdisciplinary college, housing programs in journalism, advertising and design, communication, the moving image and media production, media studies and a new department of information studies.
