Al Sharpton Speech At CU-Boulder Rescheduled For Feb. 13

MEDIA ADVISORY The Rev. Al Sharpton's cancelled appearance at the University of Colorado at Boulder has been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 13. Sharpton will speak about racism and American politics at 7 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom in the UMC on the CU-Boulder campus. The event is free and open to the public. Sharpton's visit, originally scheduled for Feb. 8, is presented by the CU-Boulder student-run Cultural Events Board. The board is part of the University of Colorado Student Union, which is supported by student fees.

Oscar-nominated filmmaker and University of Colorado at Boulder senior film instructor Jerry Aronson will present a re-mastered version of his award-winning film about his friend and longtime Boulder resident and poet, Allen Ginsberg, at the Boulder International Film Festival on Feb. 17. The screening of "The Life and Times of Allen Ginsberg" will be held at 2:45 p.m. at the Boulder Theater, 2032 14th St. in downtown Boulder.

Feb. 8 Al Sharpton Speech At CU-Boulder Cancelled

MEDIA ADVISORY Tonight's speech by the Rev. Al Sharpton at the University of Colorado at Boulder has been cancelled. Efforts are being made to reschedule the event but no further information is available at this time. The event was cancelled because Sharpton missed his scheduled flight to Denver this morning from New York. Sharpton also records a daily radio show, and it was not possible for him to do that and arrive on time for the event after missing his scheduled flight, according to Leasa Weimer, assistant director of the University Memorial Center.

CU-Boulder Diversity Summit To Be Held Feb. 21-23

The 11th annual Campus Diversity Summit at the University of Colorado at Boulder, "Diversity 911," will be held Feb. 21-23. All events will take place in the University Memorial Center and are free and open to the public. "Diversity 911 is our theme this year and it couldn't be more timely," said Mark Augustin, co-chair of the Chancellor's Advisory Committee on Minority Affairs. The theme reflects the urgency of enhancing efforts to promote a more welcoming environment on campus and in surrounding communities, he said.

Conference To Focus On Prevention Of Youth Violence, Delinquency And Drug Use
