Students at the University of Colorado at Boulder are celebrating Engineering Days this week with a variety of fun and challenging events. Hosted by the University of Colorado Engineering Council, Engineering Days is an annual celebration of the engineering profession and a chance for students to apply their engineering skills in fun and creative ways.

"Bud" Peterson today announced he intends to initiate new actions to help higher education institutions receive more accurate and consistent information from licensed apparel manufacturers regarding labor disputes and factory closures among their subcontractors.

The University of Colorado at Boulder will honor four of its distinguished engineering alumni along with a retired faculty member at the 42nd annual Engineering Awards Banquet on April 20. The University of Colorado at Boulder Natural Hazards Center will conduct a groundbreaking study of disaster preparedness among nonprofit organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area as part of a $1.3 million grant. A candlelight vigil and conversation in remembrance of the victims of the Virginia Tech shootings will be held April 18 on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus at 6 p.m. at the Dalton Trumbo Fountain Court on the north side of the University Memorial Center.

Conference on World Affairs participant and presidential candidate Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware spoke Friday at the University of Colorado at Boulder on the topic "America's Interest, Iraq's Future." Sen. Biden's talk from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. today in Macky Auditorium on the CU-Boulder campus focused on his plan to withdraw American troops from Iraq and to help stabilize the Iraqi government.
