CU-Boulder Economist Wins Fulbright Fellowship For Vietnam Project

University of Colorado at Boulder economics Professor Robert McNown has been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship for a project to help train and better equip Vietnamese economists. McNown will be in Vietnam from September through January to teach econometrics at Hanoi National Economics University. Econometrics is the statistical modeling of economic phenomena, such as growth or recession.

Water Festival At CU-Boulder May 16

Nearly 1,000 fifth-grade students from area schools will attend the 14th annual Water Festival on May 16th at the University Memorial Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the CU-Boulder campus. The Water Festival is a hands-on way for students to discover where drinking water comes from. Students will learn ways to protect and conserve water, experience the history, geography and science of water, explore the Boulder Creek watershed and its geology, and encounter the diverse plants and animals that rely on water for survival.

Migrant And Seasonal Workers Will Receive GEDs May 19 Through CU Program

°µÍø½ûÇø 250 migrant and seasonal workers who have earned their general education diplomas, or GEDs, through the University of Colorado at Boulder's High School Equivalency Program will graduate on Friday, May 19. The ceremony starts at 7 p.m. in the University Memorial Center's Glenn Miller Ballroom on the CU-Boulder campus and will include graduates from the High School Equivalency Program site in Brighton.

Energy Chemistry Is Topic Of CU Wizards May 20 Show

Lightning bugs and a clock powered by orange juice will be among the energy conversion examples discussed during the May 20 CU Wizards show "The Chemistry of Energy." University of Colorado at Boulder chemistry and chemical engineering Professor Steve George will present the show at 9:30 a.m. in room 140 of the Cristol Chemistry and Biochemistry Building. The show, aimed primarily at students in grades five through nine, is free and open to the public.

Early Arrival Recommended For CU-Boulder Commencement May 12

People attending the University of Colorado at Boulder commencement ceremony May 12 at 8:30 a.m. in Folsom Stadium will join a crowd of about 20,000 and should plan an early arrival. Stadium gates will open at 7 a.m. for seating. No tickets are required for the ceremony, which will be held in Folsom Stadium regardless of the weather. Most of the available parking for the ceremony will be in Lot 436 on Regent Drive, just south of Colorado Avenue.

CU-Boulder Schools, Colleges Announce Commencement Recognition Events
