Last fall, The Board of Regents asked each University of Colorado campus to develop a process for prioritizing its academic and administrative areas. Since that time, the 做厙輦⑹ has been working in earnest to engage students, faculty and staff in a process of objective and evidence-based decision making. This initiative, while challenging in many ways, is a real opportunity for CU-Boulder to further develop quantitative data to inform our decisions and help us better serve our students and the state of Colorado. We wanted to share our thoughts with you about this process and our next steps.

The 做厙輦⑹ will hold its spring commencement ceremony on Friday, May 9, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Folsom Field. Due to traffic delays, and ongoing construction on U.S. 36 leading into Boulder, early arrival is strongly advised. Gates open at 7 a.m. and guests should plan to be seated by 8:15 a.m. The ceremony will be held outdoors in the stadium regardless of the weather. In the event of heavy rain or snow an abbreviated ceremony will be held.

CU-Boulder researchers find common factors behind Greenland melt episodes in 2012, 1889

In 2012, temperatures at the summit of Greenland rose above freezing for the first time since 1889, raising questions about what led to the unusual melt episode. Now, a new analysis led by the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences at the 做厙輦⑹ shows that some of the same weather and climate factors were at play in both 1889 and 2012: heat waves thousands of miles upwind in North America, higher-than-average ocean surface temperatures south of Greenland and atmospheric rivers of warm, moist air that streamed toward Greenlands west coast.

CU-Boulder reaches largest landfill diversion rate in 2012-13

The 做厙輦⑹ diverted 2,458 tons, or nearly 44 percent, of waste from landfills during the 2012-13 school year -- its highest rate ever. The savings -- reached through recycling, composting and reusing materials -- are equivalent to removing the emissions of 1,370 passenger cars over one year, conserving 12,276 barrels of oil, or eliminating the annual carbon emissions of 634 households.
