CU student hones skills during D.C. internship

Early last spring, Jessie Zweibel started thinking about how she could spend her summer. Thatā€™s when a campus email came across her screen, seeking applicants for an internship program in Washington, D.C. Zweibel was one of more than a dozen CU-Boulder students who spent the summer in Washington, D.C., as part of CU in DC , an internship program developed by the College of Arts and Sciences that is open to all students in the college.

Continuing Education celebrates 100 years of connecting communities to the University

The University of Coloradoā€™s Division of Continuing Education has come a long way from its humble beginnings in young Macky Auditorium where burlap bags separated staff space in 1912 and the division offered 28 correspondence courses in 11 fields. Today, Continuing Education partners with CUā€™s academic departments to offer flexible credit courses representing 35 departments and multiple programs granting nontraditional students and community members access to campus.

Provostā€™s Report: Campus Town Hall on Concealed Carry issues

On Tuesday, Sept. 4, my office sponsored a campus town hall meeting at the University Memorial Center on issues related to concealed carry at CU-Boulder. I want to thank the 100 or so faculty, staff, students and community members who attended the meeting and shared their concerns and observations on implementing the law at CU-Boulder. For those of you who could not attend, I wanted to share with you the issues that were raised and some of the responses offered by the panel, which included Chancellor DiStefano, me, Senior Managing Associate Legal Counsel John Sleeman, and Commander Robert Axmacher of the CU Police Department.

CUā€™s three ā€˜Rakeā€™sā€™ mark world-first shared staging of art and music

The °µĶų½ūĒų is hosting a world premiere shared staging of all three versions of William Hogarthā€™s ā€œRakeā€™s Progressā€ in September and October. Exhibitions of the original Hogarth artwork and prints by David Hockney, as well as the staging of Stravinskyā€™s opera, will provide a multidisciplinary interpretation of this seminal work in Hogarthā€™s career.

Obama campaign draws 13,000 to Norlin Quad

The Obama for America campaign event on Sunday, Sept. 2 drew an estimated 13,000 attendees to hear the Presidentā€™s address. Scheduled on Norlin Quad after an invitation from Students for Obama, the rally was coordinated and hosted by the campaign and did not constitute an endorsement of the Obama campaign by the University of Colorado or the Board of Regents. The rally featured CU students Brittni Hernandez, Sarah Andrews and Ryan Case.

Daniel Sher to step down as dean of the College of Music

°µĶų½ūĒų Provost Russell Moore announced on Thursday he has accepted the resignation of Daniel Sher as dean of the College of Music at CU-Boulder effective June 30, 2013.
